Hi there…

I’m Rich Fleetwood, founder and owner of the SurvivalRing website, online since November 1st, 1997.

I found my niche in the world, and on the web, way back in the late 90s in the areas of preparedness and self reliance. A family move from the Dallas area to north central Alabama, to a small town halfway between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, in a transfer within the USPS, from north Dallas area to Bessemer, Alabama in March 1993…put us square in the target of a part of the country that was seeing a huge increase of tornadic activity.

I was born and raised in the Dallas area, and while I lived in north Dallas from 1960 to 1993, my family had close calls, but no damage ever from twisters. That all changed in the years in Alabama. We had a lot of close calls, including deadly storms that passed over our 100 year old home, massive outbreaks, and an FE-5 superstorm outbreak that missed our house on April 8th, 1998, but directly hit my wife’s aunt and uncle’s home with their daughter inside.

Because of ever increasing storm danger, I started researching shelter plans in 1995 to 1996. In 1996 I started teaching myself HTML and web design, and my first pages oni the web were all about weather threats, close calls, and developing content online in those areas.

On November 1st, 1997, I started the SurvivalRing webring, as I had come across quite a few other websites with survival and preparedness content. Y2k was still a couple of years out, but the fear of disaster was real.

Within a few weeks, the web ring had twelve members. By October 1999, SurvivalRing had 880 member websites, and was listed in the top 100 web rings, out of 80,000 that existed at the tIme.

It’s time to start taking orders for the updated library. But first, I want to clarify some important points about the following.

The library is over 500 gigabytes now. It also includes sets created by other guys and gals, who think just like me…someone who saw a need to create a full blown file set that covers several generations of data, usable by most anyone with an understanding that “the files” belong to everyone.

That being said, let’s talk about my library, it’s beginnings, and how it is different than others, and why it’s important.

About SurvivalRing…

SurvivalRing started as a webring in November of 1997. Webrings were great, until after Y2K, and when society didn’t melt down, Ring member sites slowly disappeared from the web. Before that, I had started sharing civil defense fallout shelter plans.

That became the foundation of what SurvivalRing is now. One of the largest online libraries of government created survival and preparedness documents and manuals to be found…anywhere.

I also started buying every piece of hard copy that fell into that niche, from all over North America, as well as several nations outside the US, that I searched for and was able to request, and receive, other nation’s manuals. At this time, I have in my possession nearly a thousand original hard copy government created survival and preparedness manuals, documents, technical reports, shelter plans, and one of the largest libraries on fallout shelter that anyone has ever put online.

Finishing up degrees, and adding new skills and certifications…

I returned to college from 2003 to 2008 (with my entire family) to educate myself with state of the art media production and operations…radio, television, podcasting, etc., to be able to create any format of information from my personal collection of super rare and sometimes completely unheard of titles.

I was highly successful in these classes, earning three associates of applied science degrees, with high honors. I was also recognized with two national scholarships, both of which put me at such a high level that I started getting recruiting letters from most Ivy League universities, with huge initial scholarships. Think Harvard Business school, Columbia, Princeton, and many others. I was absolutely blown away by this flood of interest in my higher education.

I didn’t go east…because that $32k I owed for student loans at the end of those three AAS degrees would blossom into $100k to $250k or more, and think how much it would cost for living expenses for my wife and three kids. I was astoundingly flattered…but I had to pass. In the succeeding years, I completely paid off my student loans, and I’m proud of that fact

From that point on, I got a job with the state of Wyoming in Corrections/LEO, and stayed there most of a decade. While working at the Wyoming Honor Farm, I would work on the SurvivalCD set in the evenings, that would eventually grow to include 14 multimedia CD/DVD discs, sets that I would sell through the last day of 2015, when I focused everything on getting myself healthy enough to have major surgery that would change my life.

With that accomplished, I then made that hard decision to leave my state job, which I loved more than any job I’d ever had before, to move to Nashville, a metropolitan area that would offer several magnitudes more job opportunities than Wyoming would ever offer to job seekers, as well as much higher pay and benefits.

While working for the state of Wyoming, I had never received a raise or promotion. This had everything to do with the Obama administration gutting and destroying much of the nation’s energy systems, of which Wyoming funded nearly all state agencies with energy royalties. I’d be there still, if fate had changed the outcome of the state’s fortunes.

It wasn’t that I wasn’t worth it…I was nominated several times for “Employee of the Quarter” and won it once in 2014. I was able to excel in multiple job areas, besides the Ag department. Records, running the chow hall, running the front desk, dispersing all staff mail, reading and censoring incoming and outgoing inmate mail, and answering and forwarding 20 line phone systems.

As the information specialist for the entire agricultural program, I supervised and managed up to 80 inmates every working hour of every business day, working in the Ag programs…the Wild Horse gentling program, the 800 head beef operations, and the farm program which grew grain, hay, and corn to feed the livestock. With a farm manager, and a supervisor for each of the Ag programs, I did all the detail work, crew counts, inmate pay, crop production and more. In other words, I learned how to run a working farm for nearly a decade.

This job provided more joy in my life than any other career I ever had.

About SurvivalRing Media…

My first multimedia disc was published in 2002. I sold 10,000 copies at wholesale to Shane Conner of KI4U.com that year. Since 2002, I’ve sold thousands of more disks, and eventually had 14 disks in the package.

It was one of the largest offerings in the survival/Prepper niche.

I stopped selling the set on 1/1/16, because of several health issues that required major surgery, in 2016 and 2017.

But, I got better. T’was only a flesh wound.

But wait…there’s more!

In the last two years, I’ve built up my new desktop tower computer system to move into the next level of Prepper libraries, an enormous undertaking.

What was 32gb of data, grew 14 times larger…now at 465gb in archived and squeezed format.

Because of that gargantuan file set, burning to dozens and dozens of DVD discs was (and is) impossible. That began the real work of finally making a file set that could be burned onto blank pocket drives, pen drives, SDRAM chips, and MicroSD chips. Still a bit of work on the backend.

These will work on any PC or laptop with a web browser. Tablets with MicroSD slots will work with my MicroSD chips. Phones depend on how you would move files TO your phone. I did come across a plug/cable adapter a few days ago that allows two-way comms of data to and from your phone. That’s all I have at this moment.

The world is currently in a very dangerous and dynamic situation, because of the Ukrainian/Russia open war. The US and dozens of allied nations have sent hundreds of billions of dollars in cash, weapons, missiles, and even placed state of the art stealth aircraft, to be available for Ukraine’s use as things continue to break down in that part of the world.

China is making lots of noise, threats, and Sabre rattling…just waiting to invade Taiwan, with potential first strike threats being made, should the US or it’s allies raise the threat levels by protecting (or offering to).

What has been feared for a couple of generations now, is the outbreak of World War Three, and the above paragraphs pretty much infer that WW3 has already started. The fuse has been lit, and unless smarter heads prevail, there is nothing else to stop a potentially fatal nuclear war occurring in OUR GENERATION…

The absolutely worst case scenario of our nation’s government turning into a communist run tyrannical 3rd world nation, and the horrific unconstitutional changes being made to the very heart of freedom and liberty that has served as the foundation of America, only point to deadly outcomes.

This situation is beyond dispute and any contestation…and unless we take our nation’s reins back, via force or nationwide rioting (or God forbid, another civil war), our nation’s end is staring us right in our faces…and the only path that history teaches us will come is our demise, via genocide in any and every way, shape or form.

Our second amendment right, that “shall not be infringed”…is being infringed in our current House of Representatives. Gun control is now happening. This administration is and has been acting in unconstitutional ways every day now, for years.

Why discuss this seriously damning evidence here? Because, we must maintain contact as our nation’s woke corporations decide to take away our freedoms, censor our communications, intentionally steal and destroy packages lawfully sold, shipped and paid for…at both ends…of legal gun manufacturers, dealers, and wholesaler’s packages going to lawful and valid buyers and businesses… packages that were already paid for after all legal ramifications were met…the same kind of real and potentially life and death situations that gave the world Adolf Hitler and the rise of Nazi domination in the 30s and 40s…and the horrors that were World War Two…and the deaths of tens of millions.

An estimated 5,800,000 Poles died, which was 20 percent of Poland’s prewar population.

The world’s estimated population in 1950, was approximately 2.5 billion souls. Now, here in November 2022? The US Census Bureau’s world population clock estimated that the global population as of September 2022 was 7,922,312,800 people and was expected to reach 8 billion by mid-November of 2022.

This total far exceeds the 2015 world population of 7.2 billion. The world’s population continues to increase by roughly 140 people per minute, with births outweighing deaths in most countries.

So many global threats now. A global pandemic (or was it?), the world watching Russia invade Ukraine, and afraid of world war three breaking out, with China, Russia and even North Korea repeatedly threats repeatedly voicing threats of nuclear war, global food production, the entire supply chain system practically destroyed, US and European infrastructure in a shamble…need I go on?

NO ONE is going to save you.

NO ONE is going to rescue you.

NO ONE is going to dig you out of the rubble of any external attack on US soil.

NO ONE is going to bring you food and water and medical care in an all out attack on America.

NO ONE is going to bring you and your family into government created shelters, camps, or large recently created towns on the outskirts of big cities.

NO ONE is going to do anything to help you, and other survivors around you WILL go door to door looking for food, people to menace, or to offer anything… but pain.

But…you should have already known all this. America has never been the battleground for any world war, regional war, or invasion. The Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Pearl Harbor attack, and 9/11 were either terrorist attacks, the founding bases of the new America, internal strife over societal directions, or unexpected terrorist attacks that tracked back to allies of America.

The USA one of the largest standing army militaries on earth. We also have nearly 50 Million hunters in the US that go out every year to stalk, target, and kill 200 pound (or larger) mammals to feed their families.

We are now the sole nation on the planet that allows citizens to arm themselves in any way, shape or form, with the 2nd amendment (yes, for real…) that states the reason for being armed is to REMOVE our leadership when they become tyrannical overlords of CITIZENS.

It’s the single largest contingency resource ever created for the average family…and I’ve been working in this realm for nearly half of my life. Who do you know that can HONESTLY say that?
